CONVENTION TEASE-O-RAMA STYLE!
The Tease-O-Rama wants to thank The Shim Sham Club for being the fine hosts of the first EVER Tease-O-Rama Convention!! Extra kisses and hugs!No need to pre-sign up for these activities but it will be first come first serve! All convention activities and classes are open to all Tease-O-Rama attendees as well as the general public. (All performers and attendees do get a BIG discount rate though!) As you can see you will be able to fill your whole weekend with some form of burlesque! WOWIE!!

The New Orleans Burlesque Historical Project

Description: THE NEW ORLEANS BURLESQUE HISTORICAL PROJECT. Independent film producer/director Rick Delaup discusses his next project,"Evangeline the Oyster Girl & Other Tales of Burlesque." Delaup will discuss the history of the queens of entertainment on Bourbon Street, and show interview footage from his documentary on a large video screen. Some of the former Bourbon Street burlesque dancers will attend and participate in questions and answers.
"Evangeline the Oyster Girl & Other Tales of Burlesque, " is a television documentary about Bourbon Street burlesque dancers in the 1950s, a time when there were few economic opportunities for women, but for some, the shady side of the street beckoned with money, glamour and fame. Delaup, the producer/director/videographer of "Ruthie the Duck Girl" and Quintron's "The Drum Buddy Show," has been researching New Orleans burlesque for over six years. He recently worked on the A&E documentary, "It's Burlesque." According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, "Delaup is quickly establishing himself as the primary chronicler of the city's offbeat street culture," much of it catalogued on his down home website at www.eccentricneworleans.com
"Evangeline the Oyster Girl & Other Tales of Burlesque" is partially funded by grants through the Louisiana Division of Arts, and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation.

Description: Tease 101. Learn to do the bumps and grinds of burlesque that made the stars of Bourbon Street known worldwide. Kitty West, 70, who made the pages of Life magazine as exotic dancer, "Evangeline the Oyster Girl," can still move those hips! The former Bourbon Street headliner will teach you the bumps, grinds, the walk, and the tease. There'll be no poles on this stage, as you'll learn how to be "naughty, but nice." As Kitty West was known to say to the audience, "I know it's not ladylike to dance as I do, but to always be a lady, well that's boring, too!" This once-in-a-lifetime chance to learn from a Bourbon Street entertainer from the glamorous days of old, in an intimate setting, is not to be missed!
