Tease-O-Rama is more than just the evening performances and closing night movie party, it is also a series of workshops and events from the experts of Burlesque. This year, BurlyCon is partnering with Tease-O-Rama to provide a stellar line-up of classes in Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco! Our daytime convention activities provide opportunities for performers, future performers, enthusiasts, scholars and curious bystanders to learn more about burlesque old and new. NOTE: With the exception of General Public Daypasses and classes taught by Satan’s Angel and Catherine D’Lish, tickets for the daytime convention are NOT sold in advance but are first come/first serve. All advance tickets sold through brownpapertickets.com. Plan to arrive at 20 minutes early for all classes.

Pinup Photography: Shimmy Magazine's Dale Rio
Room D100 A
Students will be given a historical overview of the pin-up, as well as practical advice and suggestions on relevant subject such as model releases and contracts, how to enter into a working relationship with a new photographer, how to conduct yourself at a shoot, and more. They will also try out different poses to see which work best for them. Students need to bring: open ears and a pin-up outfit or two. No Prerequisites required, just the desire to learn about pin-up modeling.

The Art of Glove and Stocking Removal: Jo Boobs
Room D100 B
Timing, teasing, and titillation--those are some of the techniques you'll learn in the glove and stocking removal class! Whether your style is classically glamourous, performance-arty, outrageously sexy, or just plain funny, you can benefit from these techniques. Learn to squeeze every bit of theatricality out of the smallest move. What is it about the reveal of a burlesque performer's hand that gets audiences going, when everyone in the audience is already sitting there with naked hands? Gloves will be available to borrow if you do not bring any, and stockings you can keep will be provided for free. You can bring your own stockings, but just know that they will get a workout and may not survive the class! You can wear a dress with a loose skirt or a leotard or bodysuit. You will need to have bare legs under the stockings. This class involves working the chair, so if you enjoyed the chair dancing class, you're in for a whole new treat!

She will go through everyone’s products and tell you what to keep, how to use them, throw them out, buy a new one etc! You will see other girl’s favorite items and receive a list of Cardinal Cyn’s personal favorites from drug store to department store! In search of perfectly shaped brows? She will show you her tricks! Come fresh faced if you want to play along!

Queer Burlesque: Kentucky Fried Woman

In this discussion oriented workshop, Kentucky Fried Woman will present a brief history of both queers in burlesque and queer burlesque, particularly as it has unfolded in the neo-burlesque movement; discuss the work of various queer burlesque troupes around the United States and Europe; and engage in conversations with participants about the politics and implications of queer burlesque in terms of reclaiming burlesque for queer audiences, incorporating social justice into performances and how queer burlesque artists are questioning and critiquing hetero-normative burlesque standards.

Pure Hips: Michelle L’Amour

Burlesque is based on the exaggeration of the feminine. Hip movement plays a large role in this exaggeration. In Pure Hips, you will learn hip techniques from Jazz, Latin and Ballroom styles in order to infuse your striptease with more extreme sauciness. In addition to perfecting hip movements, we will also tone and strengthen the hip area. This class is open to all levels above Basic Burlesque.

Burlesque Corsetry: Dark Garden Corsetry

Autumn Adamme (of San Francisco's Kitty Kitty Bang Bang) founded Dark Garden Unique Corsetry in1989 and has been dedicated to making the world a lovelier, curvier place ever since. Some of her clients include Dita Von Teese and Catherine D'Lish. She and Jessica Buick will be offering tips and tricks to beautify, glamourize and sexify your burlesque look with the use of corsets and other accessories. Autumn will also demonstrate how put your corset on without assistance, and - even better - get out of it gracefully. Attendees of the workshop will receive a discount card to Dark Garden.

Fan Dancing with Anything: Dirty Martini
Room C260
Dirty Martini's ultimate guide to graceful fan dancing. Learn tricks of the trade from the only Sally Rand award winner. You bring it... Dirty Martini will teach you to dance with it! Whether it's luscious ostrich feathers or kitchen pot lids, this class will teach you the basics of classic fan dance mixed with some new ideas for unusual props. Bring your concept and some clothing to move comfortably in. The class starts with a warm up designed especially for burlesque performers to experiment with new ways of moving on the stage and promotes proper stage deportment. In other words, walk the walk of a true burlesque diva. Following the warm up, the students will put on their high heels to dig in and learn secret moves developed from Miss Martini's many years spent researching vintage burlesque while establishing the new burlesque. Miss Martini has taught her signature moves to Margaret Cho, trans burlesque sensation Rose Wood among many other up and coming and established burlesque performers.

She will also throw in a story or two about some of her most memorable learning experiences: including playing a guy’s drum with her tassels, and the inspiration behind her fire tassel act. Anyone attempting to work with fire should get extensive training. This class is intended for informational purposes only.
